I suppose I could have posted this over on the forum, but as I have a habit of rambling and going off on long tangents, I figured it best to post it here.

--------------

I have read the first four comics, plus the Annual, as so far those are the only things I've managed to get my hands on. I'm still looking for more torrents.

As someone whos always considered themselves the epitome of Darkwing Duck fan, I admit to feeling a little bad that I hadn't even heard of the comics until very recently. But of course, I did spent over a year without internet access, and thus was out of the loop in the fandom.

I didn't know about the comics until I joined The Old Haunt, and my feelings on them have been rather mixed. At first I was excited about the idea and couldn't wait to get my hands on them. But then, after reading the synopsis and a bunch of reviews, I started having second thoughts.

I don't particularly like the idea of someone altering things in the DwD universe. Fanfiction aside, because we all do that, and thats just fanfiction. But for someone to go in and change things, and then actually publish it... well, it just seemed like sacrilege to me. So I became apprehensive about reading it for myself.

I read the Annual first, as it was the first thing I found, but I will get to that in a moment since it will contain a bitter rant.

There are obviously mixed feelings among the fans in regards to the comics, but the first four I really liked. I didn't think I would, but I do. I found the story engaging, the characters done well, and I even giggled at a few of the jokes.

I did notice the change in Quackerjacks personality, and while a little off putting, I think making him more sadistic was an interesting development. Also, him ripping the Crimebot apart with his bare hands was sexy as hell.

So, I enjoyed it for the most part, and want to read anything else I can get my hands on. I am prepared for it to take a turn for the worst tho, as nothing is ever as good as it seems. But for now, its not too bad.

Now... lets move on to the Annual. First, the good: The time turtle story was adorable. I loved it. Time paradoxes are always funny, and I really liked DW trying to make sense of it at the end.

The characters were done perfectly, the story was cute, and overall it was an amazing read. Thats the end of the good.

The bad: WTF is wrong with you, Mr. Brill?! Toy With Me was the biggest piece of garbage I have ever had the displeasure of reading. As a Quackerjack fan, I am absolutely APPALLED! The ending left me feeling so very empty inside. How could you do something like that?

And what about Claire? What is up with her? I think Snark pretty much said it all over on the forums, but seriously... that girl has no reason to be in the comic at all. I didn't like her, but I didn't dislike her either. I kinda felt bad for her, but she still had no reason to be there.

Claire was too plain, too normal. At least MY OC is somewhat interesting (or so I've been told). Sorry to say this, Mr. Brill, but I think you need some serious lessons on how to make a proper OC, especially if you're planning on hooking them up with someone like Quacky.

Do you know what the one good thing in that comic was?

"I am the noob that spam chats villainy."

Thats it! That one line. That was hilarious. Everything else was a load of crap. Also, making Claire a WoW player was funny to me, but the idea of her hiding it was ridiculous. I'M a WoW nut... you can't fucking hide that shit, trust me.

And can I just add that Quackys motive was rather on the stupid side as well. WoW does not destroy peoples creativity, but then that really depends on how you choose to play the game. I played to RP... RP is nothing BUT creativity. How 'bout next time you do a little research into the reasons people play something, before you write a comic and have a character claim that it ruins creativity.

I think thats pretty much all I have to say on the matter.
